equip the child for a life of service in God’s world.”
from MDCS Mission Statement
We believe that a partnership with parents is vital for the nurture, wellbeing and education of each child.
One of the ways that the community of Mountain District Christian School celebrates this partnership is by offering the families of our students a place to belong and to connect with others.
Our families enjoy many opportunities to gather as a community…
-
Family picnic days
-
Coffee Mornings for parents
-
Celebrating our Open Days
-
Special productions and performances by the students
-
Supporting our students’ sporting events
-
Weekly assemblies
-
Information dinners and celebrations
We welcome the involvement and active participation of parents in the life of the school. There are many ways to be involved…
-
Committed Christian parents are able to join the School Association and be elected onto the School Board, join a committee, help with specific projects and contribute expertise and experience in various areas.
- Parents are also encouraged to help in the classroom and in specific programs. This help may take the form of listening to reading, photocopying class materials and general help in the classroom as designated by the teacher.
-
All families are expected to to 'work off' 18 units of time throughout each school year, as a Community Levy. The levy can be worked off in a variety of ways including contributing time towards maintaining the grounds of school, through scheduled working bees, joining a committee, assisting on excursions or camps, helping at fundraisers, and many other ways.
-
Other areas in which a parent may participate include helping in the Library, supervision on sports days, involvement in fundraising, working bees, clerical assistance in the office, and bus driving.
